Swedish Meat Balls - Mrs. George Vikingstad

Swedish Meat Balls

1/3 lb pork
1 lb beef
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 egg
3 level tbsp cornstarch
1 1/2 cups milk or water

Grind meat together twice. Add the remaining ingredients. Knead for about 15 minutes adding liquid a little at a time as mixture becomes dry. Form into ball and brown in butter. Add 2 cups water, put on tight cover and let simmer for about 1 1/2 hours until tender. Thicken the broth.
