Danish Coffee Cake - Mrs. Herbert Hansen

Tea Ring Shape
Danish Coffee Cake

1 cup shortening
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup warm milk
2 pkgs yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water
3 egg yolks
4 cups flour

Put dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening as for pie crust. Add egg yolks to milk, Add milk mixture and yeast to shortening mixture. Set in refrigerator overnight and make next day.
This dough may be used as a tea ring with any favorite filling or as coffee cake with a cinnamon sugar topping. Bake at 400 deg. for 20 minutes.
