Fattigman (Poor Men) - Mrs. Ralph Olson

Fattigman (Poor Men) 

5 egg yolks

1 whole egg

3 tbsp melted butter

3 tbsp cream

6 tbsp sugar or less

1/2 tsp almond extract

q/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp nutmeg

flour to make soft dough (1 1/2 to 2 cups)

Beat together all the ingredients except flour. Add flour enough to make a fairly easy to handle dough, like soft cookie dough. Roll on floured board. Cut into diamond or oblong shape; use pastry wheel if you have one. Cut pieces about 2 inches, make a small slit in the center and twist end through the slit.
Fry in deep fat as for doughnuts. Drain on brown paper or paper toweling. Shake in bag of powdered sugar.
